FC Ogunlade and FC Nieketien secured crucial victories on Day Two of the Round of 32 of the 2026 Bet9ja Foundation Ex-Internationals Cup, significantly improving their chances of advancing in the competition, Naija Footy reports.
At the Main Bowl of the National Stadium in Surulere, FC Ogunlade narrowly defeated FC Amoo 1-0 in a tightly contested match. Both teams struggled to break the deadlock during the first half, as the game remained finely balanced going into halftime.
The turning point came early in the second half when FC Ogunlade capitalized on a defensive error. A misstep by FC Amoo’s goalkeeper provided an opening, which Ogunlade seized to score the game’s only goal. Despite their best efforts to find an equalizer, FC Amoo’s attacking push was effectively thwarted by Ogunlade’s resolute defense, allowing them to retain their slim lead and keep momentum ahead of the return leg.
Meanwhile, at Maracana Stadium, FC Nieketien delivered an emphatic 3-0 victory over FC Edema with a commanding performance. The scoring began in the first half via a penalty kick, awarded after a handball incident in the box. Abubakar Abdullah stepped up and confidently converted to give his side the lead.
Nieketien extended their dominance in the second half, with further goals from Sylvester Emeka and Terryson Ouiruo sealing a decisive win. This result leaves FC Edema facing an uphill battle in the second leg, while FC Nieketien edge closer to progressing in the Lagos State Football Association-hosted tournament.
