Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has withdrawn from the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan in Antalya, Turkey, due to a back injury, NaijaFooty reports.
Bassey was initially named in Eric Chelle’s 23-man squad for the fixtures, but reports from camp confirm that the defender has pulled out and will require time to recover.
In more positive news, all other players invited to the squad have now arrived in camp and participated in their first group training session in Antalya on Wednesday. The Super Eagles are set to face Iran on Friday, March 27, followed by their clash with Jordan on March 31.
Bassey’s recovery period is anticipated to help him regain fitness in time to assist Fulham in the closing stretch of their Premier League campaign. The Cottagers, currently sitting ninth in the standings, are striving to secure a spot for European competitions.
