Femi Azeez delivered a standout performance on the final day of the Championship season, but his brace was not enough to secure automatic promotion for Millwall, NaijaFooty reports.

The Super Eagles hopeful struck twice against Oxford United on Saturday, only for Millwall to miss out after Ipswich Town’s convincing 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.

Millwall ended the season in third place with 83 points, just one behind Ipswich. The Lions must now contend with the play-offs as they aim for a spot in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old winger opened the scoring in the 34th minute following a precise setup from Mihailo Ivanović, slotting confidently past goalkeeper Jamie Cumming. Azeez then doubled his tally early in the second half with a powerful finish at the back post.

This season has been a breakout one for Azeez, who has delivered an impressive 11 goals and eight assists across 35 league appearances, further boosting his chances of featuring for Nigeria in the upcoming Unity Cup.

Millwall now turn their focus to a pivotal play-off semi-final clash against Hull City. The first leg is scheduled for May 8 at the MKM Stadium, with the decisive return match set to take place at The Den on May 11.
