Vasco suffer setback as Estrela reject bid for Nigerian striker Marcus

Brazilian club Vasco da Gama have faced a challenge in their attempt to sign Nigerian forward Abraham Marcus, as Portuguese side Estrela Amadora reportedly rejected their offer for the player, Naija Footy reports.

It is understood that Vasco put forward a proposal valued at €4 million, but Estrela’s management deemed this below their expectations for the attacker and opted not to proceed with the deal.

Marcus has been generating increased interest due to his performances in Portugal, where he has emerged as one of the standout players in the league. His ability to deliver in the attacking third, through goals, assists, and creativity, has caught the attention of clubs across Europe.

The Nigerian forward was a key figure in Estrela Amadora’s campaign last season, consistently featuring in matches and contributing significantly to the team’s offensive strategies. His impact on the field has bolstered his reputation and raised his market value.

With a contract running until 2028, Estrela are reportedly in no rush to sell and hold a strong position regarding Marcus’ future. The Portuguese club is said to be anticipating higher bids from other interested parties in the near future.

As the transfer window continues, Marcus’ next destination remains uncertain, while European clubs are expected to keep monitoring the striker closely as preparations for the new season intensify.
