Nigerian striker Azike Ekene has agreed to part ways with Kirivong FC in the Cambodian Premier League, concluding his time at the club, Naija Footy reports.
The 26-year-old announced his departure on Instagram and is now a free agent. While his next move is still uncertain, there are suggestions that Thailand could be his next destination, though no agreement has been finalized.
Ekene joined Kirivong FC in August 2025, having previously played in Thailand for Phitsanulok FC, Songkhla FC, and Pathumthani University FC, as well as for Cambodian club Prey Veng FC. Before heading abroad, the Ibadan-born forward was with Nigeria’s Osun United after progressing through Demmyspoet Football Academy.
During his stint with Kirivong, he made 27 appearances in the Cambodian Premier League and became a regular in the squad before both parties decided to end their relationship.
Transfermarkt values Ekene at €75,000. Known for his versatility, he can also play on either wing and has been steadily advancing his career across Southeast Asia since leaving Nigeria.
With his contract now terminated by mutual consent, Ekene is looking to find a new team before the new season begins, with Thailand being a potential option for continuing his career in Asian football.
